Job Description

Job Title: Development Manager
Department: Development/Marketing
Pay Group: Exempt
Reports To: Chief Development Officer

SUMMARY:
The Development Manager will primarily be responsible for initiating new, managing, improving and creating sustainability within the organizations fundraising and marketing ventures. Working with a team centric approach with both development team members and agency stakeholders this position will operate as a point person for assigned/created fund development projects. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently in meeting their project(s) objectives and be highly motivated to elevate Center’s fundraising levels throughout north France. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the prospecting and solicitation of corporate sponsors, coordinating fundraising/volunteer events and interacting with community leaders to build mutually beneficial partnerships. The ability to speak publicly and conduct B to B level meetings with desired outcomes is essential. This position will be evaluated on job related activities and professional behaviors during each evaluation period. The Development Manager reports directly to the Chief Development Officer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLILITIES:

  • Organization, preparation and execution of Center fundraising events and projects

  • Provide logistical/collateral support to cross-discipline team member’s projects/events on an as needed basis

  • Develop and deliver multi-functional sales presentations with desired outcomes

  • Represent Center publicly at promotional events, agency fairs, United Way camp fairs

  • Provide assistance to leadership team with special projects as assigned by the CDO/CEO

  • Interacts with Board of Directors and stakeholders as needed to assist in board development activities

  • Create and design, when necessary, or manage staff in the development of fundraising/marketing brochures, reports, and other documents

  • Work effectively in obtaining bottom-line objectives while maintaining budgetary boundaries


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Manage event budget responsibilities

  • Manage staff and volunteers


QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will be a motivated self starter that possesses the adequate knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to satisfactorily accomplish the responsibilities of the position. Additionally, candidates should have the desire to help Center and our cause in accomplishing the fund development goals and in building a stronger presence in the north France area. The skills/requirements listed below are representative of the base levels needed for success in this important position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Understanding of project management, special event planning, marketing/public relations and/or sales abilities required. Must be able to utilize computer for word processing (MS Word), maintain a database (MS Access) and analyze data (MS Excel). Proficiency with online applications (MS Outlook, MS Explorer or MS Frontpage/SharePoint) and desktop publishing programs desirable (MS Publisher, Quark, or InDesign). Experience working for a nonprofit organization desirable. Must be able to pass Center’s standard employment background check and complete the agency’s in-processing criteria. Must have reliable transportation and the flexibility to adjust to a work schedule to meet program needs, including occasional evening and week-end meetings and activities. Bachelor degree preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in communicating both in writing and orally,

  • Ability to read, write and understand business correspondence, technical information, newsletter articles, meeting minutes, letters to the public, and business proposals.

  • Aptitude in speaking effectively to groups, presenting information and responding to questions from staff, clients, customers, stakeholders and the general public.

  • Fluent in Spanish a plus.


REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid state issued Driver’s License and proof of current auto liability insurance. Must have copy of TB test results.

Must have good health in order to maintain an acceptable attendance record as established by the agency.
