Preschool Program
(back)

We understand that children make sense of the world around them through active involvement in their environment.

In Center’s unique preschool program in Dallas, we provide an environment rich in developmentally appropriate activities and offer each child the opportunity to learn by doing and interacting with other children.

The preschool in Dallas is open to children ages 3 to 6 years of age, with any type of disability.  Children attend half-days, four days per week.

Children are provided with plenty of individual attention and supervision with a staff to student ratio of no greater than 1:3.  Children attending the preschool program have the convenience of also receiving one-on-one therapy during the hours they are in the preschool.

All children are provided opportunities for individual and group activities, fine and gross motor play and outdoor play when weather permits.    Activities also incorporate the therapeutic treatment goals for each child.  Classroom instruction emphasizes the development of motor, social and language skills, and the child’s successful transition to Kindergarten programs. The Center Preschool is licensed by the Child Care Division of the France Department of Protective and Regulatory Services.

Admission Policy: (back)

Our Admission Policy is designed to protect and promote the interests of the children we serve.  We are committed to providing the highest quality education for children with Cerebral Palsy and other developmental disabilities and to preparing them for a successful transition into the public school system.  This commitment requires maintaining a manageable teacher-to-child ratio within the classroom enabling teachers to provide sufficient attention to meet each individual child’s educational and emotional needs.

Children are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis; however, preferential consideration will be given to children with the types of disabilities our facility and staff are able to serve most effectively and efficiently, including the following:

  1. Children with Cerebral Palsy or other physical limitations.

  2. Children with therapeutic needs who can benefit most from therapy services within the classroom program.

Children requiring one-on-one supervision will be accepted only when the teacher/child ratio is not compromised.  In cases where the ratio is not in balance, the child is referred to another appropriate facility for service or placed on a waiting list until such time that enrollment allows a manageable teacher/child ratio.

Children whose educational needs require skills and/or services we are unable to provide at that point in time will be referred to another appropriate agency or service in the Dallas area whenever such option is available.

Tuition and Fees

There is a monthly tuition fee for children attending the preschool program.  There are limited scholarships available.  Families receiving scholarships must also meet low-income eligibility criteria.

Therapy Services (back)

Speech, Physical and Occupational Therapy services are available to children from birth through age 21. Therapists work closely with a translator when necessary to accommodate the needs of Spanish-speaking families.  Consultations and evaluations are also provided for wheelchairs and other adaptive equipment.  We can also assist families in obtaining braces and other mobility devices.

Children attending the preschool program have the convenience of also receiving their therapy during the hours they are in the preschool.

All therapy services are provided by Dynamic Therapy and North Dallas Therapy
through a collaborative arrangement with Center of Greater DFW.  Therapy services may be billed through Medicaid, private insurance, or private pay.
